‘The Crystal Maze’ looks set to return to our TV screens after 21 years, but the question of who will host the reboot is yet to be answered.
Channel 4 has confirmed that they are considering bringing the show back for a ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ night special, but claims that David Tennant will be at the helm are untrue, reports The Guardian.
Rumours of a reboot were first reported on Wednesday (31 August) morning, with a source telling The Sun: “Even two decades after it last aired, there are very few shows that have been as magical and action-packed as ‘The Crystal Maze’.
Bosses will have no problems organising the set, as it’s currently being used for a live, immersive ‘Crystal Maze’ experience in central London.
There’s also the question of whether a successful one-off episode could lead to more being commissioned, as was the case with the recent ‘TFI Friday’ reboot.
Likewise, ‘8 Eight Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ also began life as a one-off for a Channel 4 meets E4 “mash-up” night in 2012, with a full series following a year later.
